Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the Kingdom of Bahrain's sovereign wealth fund, and ARP Group announced a partnership to establish an artificial intelligence-native wholesale bank in Bahrain, according to a statement released on the sidelines of the Gateway Gulf 2026 forum in Manama.

Mumtalakat's involvement signals strong state backing for the project. As the sovereign wealth fund of Bahrain, the firm manages a diversified portfolio of assets on behalf of the kingdom and has increasingly sought to anchor high-value financial and technology ventures within the country's borders.
The announcement comes as Gulf states compete aggressively to attract fintech and institutional finance business, with Bahrain leveraging its established regulatory frameworks and relatively open financial sector. An AI-native architecture could allow the new bank to process complex institutional transactions and compliance functions with greater speed and lower overhead than conventional wholesale lenders.
Detailed information on capitalization, licensing timelines, and the bank's full operational scope had not been disclosed at the time of the announcement. Continue reading at All Financial Services & Investing.
